Verdant Specialty Solutions Halifax Limited operates a surfactant manufacturing site at Burrwood Way, Holywell Green, Halifax, comprising five production plants. The site originated as part of Solvay’s Novecare surfactants business before being sold to US private equity firm OpenGate Capital in 2021, when it was renamed Verdant Specialty Solutions; the wider Verdant group was subsequently acquired by South Korea’s Samyang Holdings in December 2023, and the company remains headquartered in Houston, Texas.

The Halifax plants produce surfactant chemistries including amine oxides, betaines, sultaines, propionates, amphoacetates and polyamines, supplied for personal care, home and hygiene, and industrial applications, and dispatched in bulk tankers, drums and IBCs by land, sea or air. The site holds ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 certification, along with EFfCI, RSPO, Kosher and Halal accreditations.
